Like most everything else, Radio Free Athens has been impacted by the current situation pertaining to COVID-19, which the World Health Organization has deemed a pandemic. Although you won’t get to hear your favorite DJs on the air for a while, we will be supplying faithful listeners with playlists in the meantime. Find them below!

My brother Phil’s (A.K.A. Funky Phil or Philbilly) birthday is at the end of this month so I tried to step away from the Corona Virus theme. (I almost made it with the exception of The Minutemen track.)  Phil and I have known each other our entire lives and music has been a big part of that time.  I have probably seen more shows with him than any other person that I have known. Including two of the greatest shows I have seen; Tom Waits and James Brown. Except for the last song this is just a sampling of some of the people and bands that we have seen together.  I hope you are all continuing to do well.  Cheers!
Steve Earle- Fort Worth Blues
John Prine and Sturgill Simpson- Paradise
Tim Easton- Jackie
JD Hutchison- Somebody Wants Me Out Of The Way
Fred Eaglesmith- I Shot Your Dog
Can-Beer Cans Down the Trans
Tom Waits- Lucinda/Ain’t Goin’ Down
James Brown- Payback
Slack- Hi/Hello
The Royal Crescent Mob- Get On The Bus
The Minuteman- Corona
REM- So. Central Rain
The Alarm- Strength

From DJ Grumpy Grandma
A very difficult semester is almost over! I know there are many pages to be written by this Grumpy Grandma this weekend, but Friday night will be reserved for staying up late with my turntable (which is admittedly what I have been doing every single night this week instead of working on my schoolwork, guilty as charged) and I hope it will be that way for you too, dear listener!
A Lot’s Gonna Change – Weyes Blood
Vaping On the Job – Dougie Poole
Keep it Chill (In the East Vill) – Jeffrey Lewis
Isolation – Dirty Projectors
Lockdown Blues – Iceage
Summertime – Orville Peck
Pure Love – Ronnie Milsap
Automobile – John Prine

This week’s isolation tracks are from LPs that are essential to have when cut off from civilization, (or in quarantine, whichever comes first). Hopefully the songs will to inspire you to explore the albums in their entirety, which were, at the time of their release, meant to be listened to straight through. Please enjoy; musicians all over the world thank you for listening.
