CAMBRIDGE, Ohio (WOUB) — The battle for the seven-mile crown began with a bang from the Cambridge Bobcats on a beautiful Friday night.

The first drive of the game ended with a bullet of a pass from Cambridge quarterback, Caden Moore, to find his receiver Jake Valentine for a 58-yard touchdown.

The very next set of downs was the same result for the Bobcats, with Moore finding Owen Feldner to make it 14-0 on just 3 offensive plays. The special team’s unit also showed up big time for Cambridge on the night, with many beautiful kicks from Lucas Parsons, and an amazing punt return from Feldner.

Unfortunately for him it was called back for an illegal procedure against the Bobcats. Cambridge continued to claw their way through the first quarter, putting up an impressive 21-0 scoreline by the time that the clock showed zeros for the end of the first quarter of play.

The onslaught continued well into the second quarter, with the Bobcats scoring once again on their first drive of the quarter. Big Bobcat defensive plays set the tone for this quarter, with multiple sacks of the quarterback and crucial plays in coverage by the cornerbacks and safeties.

Not only did Moore get the job done in the air, but he also got it done with his legs as well. He made many beautiful running plays, dodging Colts left and right, and even scored a touchdown to boot.

As the starry night sky began to show itself, the Bobcats weren’t going to bed quite yet. They continued to feast on the Colts for the entire rest of the second quarter, increasing their lead to a whopping 49-0 score at the half.

It was more of the same when the second half kicked off, with the Bobcats putting more salt into the wounds of the Colts. While Meadowbrook did show some signs of life in the third quarter, putting together some nice drives down the field, the Bobcat defense showed their class by putting those drives to a halt.

Cambridge forced a fumble later in the fourth quarter that really sent the fans of Meadowbrook to the exits, even though most of those in the student section had left at halftime.

Cambridge brought the Colts back to the den one more time in the night, by punching it into the endzone to make the final score of the ball game 63-0 for the hosting Cambridge Bobcats.
