ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) In their home opener the Ohio Bobcats took care of business with a commanding victory of 5-1 to beat the Saint Louis Billikens.

The action started quickly as Ohio had three penalty corners in just the first two minutes of play. But it was sophomore Natalie LaFleur who got the first goal of the game, her third of the season.

It did not take long for Saint Louis to respond; senior Josefina Perez got the penalty corner goal to tie it up 1-1.

The scoring did not stop there, three minutes later Ohio’s Anouk Plaehn got the goal to give the Bobcats the lead, she was assisted by Bodhi Littlefield and Emily Risser.

In the second period it was Saint Louis who dominated the possession. But the Ohio defense stepped up big allowing no goals the rest of the half.  All four of the Billikens shots in the second quarter were denied by the Bobcat’s goalie Macy Lotze. Ohio kept the lead of 2-1 going into the half.
