CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (WOUB) –The Paint Valley Bearcats traveled to take on the Unioto Sherman Tanks in a pivotal SVC showdown with massive conference standings implications.

A win for the Shermans would solidify their superiority at the top of the SVC, and a victory for the Bearcats would move them up to 1st place in the SVC standings.

Unioto hit the ground hot, establishing the running game early and making it easy for running back Cody Braden to punch it in on the goal line to give the Shermans the early lead.

Before Paint Valley could gain any offense momentum, Sherman’s defensive back Caden Cutright picked off quarterback Preston Fauber and returned the interception down to the goal line. Cody Braden got right back to work, tacking on his second touchdown of the day and giving Unioto the early 14-0 lead.

After a few defensive stops and a long, methodical drive from the Unioto offense, Cody Braden weaved his way past tacklers and punched in his third touchdown to put Unioto up 21-0.

Paint Valley had a great offensive drive brewing, but once again, Cade Cutright blew up the play, securing his second interception of the night. Isaac Coy threw a laser to Levi Beam to set up shop on the goal line and ran it in himself on the next play to put the Shermans up 29-0 late in the second quarter.

Unioto tacked on another touchdown before the end of the first half and wound the clock down in the second quarter to secure their win against Paint Valley. Their offense was electric, but their defense was equally impressive: deflecting passes, recovering countless turnovers, and pressuring Bearcat quarterback Preston Fauber all night long.

Unioto defeated Paint Valley 43-0 and will travel to take on Southeastern at home next week, looking to wrap up their undefeated SVC stint with a win.

Paint Valley will host Zane Trace next week, seeking a crucial SVC win before beginning the playoff campaign.
