McARTHUR, Ohio (WOUB) – The Jackson Ironladies (3-11; 2-5 FAC) went on the road to face the Vinton County Lady Vikings (10-4; 5-2 TVC-Ohio) in a FAC and TVC-Ohio matchup.

From the very start, the Ironladies took control as their defense swarmed the Lady Vikings on every Vinton County possession. This forced plenty of steals, and the Jackson offense took advantage. After the first quarter, The Ironladies led 11-2.

It was more of the same in the second, as continuous pressure forced more steals. Lauryn Walburn made a huge impact offensively, as she shot 2-4 from three going into halftime.

At the end of the half, the Ironladies amassed 16 steals, and the offense kept it rolling as they increased their lead to 28-9.

The Vikings’ offense got going in the second half, but it was too little, too late as Jackson would cruise to a 47-29 victory.

Leading the scoring for the Ironladies were Sydney Carpenter and Walburn as they each had 14 points.

The defense put up a masterful performance, ending with a total of 24 steals. Lillian Mapes and Carpenter led with six each.

The Jackson Ironladies improve to 4-11 and look to continue their momentum against South Webster on Monday.

The Vinton County Lady Vikings drop to 10-5 and will look to bounce back against Sheridan on Monday.
