This free event promises a day filled with great music\, amazing visual arts\, and community involvement\, catering to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. \nNestled in the heart of Athens\, ACAMF has earned acclaim for its intimate outdoor ambiance and diverse lineup of live musical performances\, showcasing both local talents and renowned artists from across the nation. \nThis year\, legendary garage-rock icon and powerhouse vocalist Shannon Shaw will headline the main stage on Saturday\, August 1st\, backed by the Shannon Shaw Band. She’ll be bringing her signature blend of vintage pop\, country-soul\, and underground punk to the festival. \nBest known as the magnetic frontwoman of Oakland’s garage-punk quartet Shannon & the Clams\, Shaw’s solo work pushes her massive voice to cinematic new heights. Her live set marries those gritty basement punk roots with the soulful\, heartbreaking depth of 1960s girl groups and doo-wop. Often compared to vocal titans like Dusty Springfield and Amy Winehouse\, Shaw has a rare ability to turn deep personal grief into triumphant rock-and-roll. SUMMARY:Multicultural Genealogical Center Speaker and Light Lunch
DESCRIPTION:  \n The Multicultural Genealogical Center of Southeast Ohio welcomes Ty Mayle who will speak about the genealogical history of the Ward family and their journey from enslavement in Virginia to emancipation in Southeast Ohio. This story begins with their enslavement on a Virginia plantation in the late 1700s\, covers their mass emancipation and migration to Ohio\, their involvement with Abolitionism and the Underground Railroad\, and their eventual settlement and community building in Washington County. \nTy graduated with degrees in Informational Technology and Geography from Marshall University.  He is a curatorial assistant who is also engaged in research and public outreach for the Belpre Historical Society and Farmers Castle Museum.  His area of focus is the Underground Railroad Gallery and on expanding the work of the late historian Henry R. Burke. Ty is a current resident of Belpre\, Ohio and a descendent of the multiracial community of Washington County through the Mayle and Ward families.
