The room contains mementos from Ryan’s career\, which included the D-Day landing and writing the books “The Longest Day” and “A Bridge Too Far” that were turned into blockbuster films. Guest speakers are retired Scripps-Howard Newspapers foreign correspondent and D.C. bureau chief Peter Copeland\, Scripps journalism alum and Russia correspondent for The Associated Press James Heintz\, and a director of the Ernie Pyle Legacy Foundation and Pyle cousin Steve Maschino. SUMMARY:Classics & Cocktails: REAR WINDOW
DESCRIPTION:Our featured cocktail this week will be inspired by the swirling brandy snifters served up by Princess Grace in this Hitchcock classic. More details soon! \nAlfred Hitchcock’s 1954 mystery/thriller is next in our Classics & Cocktails lineup on Friday\, June 16th at 7pm! Admission is $8. Drink prices vary. \nRear Window is one of the best summer thrillers of all time. Not only is it set over the course of a sweltering week in Greenwich Village\, but the steamy\, claustrophobic setting is intensified by Jimmy Stewart’s role as the wheelchair bound photographer\, in this one-set wonder. Even with the cool beauty of Grace Kelly\, we become trapped in Jeff’s voyeuristic view\, and the murder outside his window. \nAlong with the specialty cocktail\, we will have a full menu of wine\, local beer and local ciders.

SUMMARY:The Actor's Guild of Parkersburg presents: 'The Play that Goes Wrong'
DESCRIPTION:The Play That Goes Wrong opens at the Actors Guild of Parkersburg on June 16. \nThe show unfolds on opening night of the Cornley University Drama Society’s newest production\, The Murder at Haversham Manor\, where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. This 1920s whodunit has everything you never wanted in a show—an unconscious leading lady\, a corpse that can’t play dead\, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines). \nThe show is based very much in British comedy that plays on physical humor and puns. Fans of Monty Python\, Mr. Bean\, Fawlty Towers\, and even the Carol Burnett Show\, will really enjoy the well-crafted humor. \nCurtain time for The Play That Goes Wrong is 8 PM on June 16\, 17\, 23\, and 24; 6 PM on June 18; and 2:30 PM on June 25. Tickets cost $20 ($18 for students and seniors) and are available now at https://www.actors-guild.com/buy-tickets.html. \n  \nThe production is sponsored by Napoli’s and is rated PG (for British humor).

SUMMARY:The Human Library
DESCRIPTION:Unjudge someone! Check out one of our human books for a conversation that challenges stigma or stereotypes. Difficult questions are encouraged and answered! \nThe Human Library is an organization that has been around for 23 years and based out of Copenhagen\, Denmark. They have several publishing partners around the world\, and we’re so excited to be one of them! \nHow does the Human Library work? The Human Library is a library of people. Readers can borrow human beings serving as “Books” and will be able to engage in interesting conversations on a variety of topics in a safe space where curiosity & understanding are at the heart of the event. All of our human books are volunteers with personal experience with their topic. Each reading with a Book will last roughly 30 minutes each. \nWhat topics will the Books discuss? In the past\, the Human Library has hosted a variety of Books such as “Recovering Alcoholic\, Blind\, Native American\, Adopted\, Intersex\, Epileptic\, Environmental Activist\, Refugee\, Bipolar\, Autism\, Jewish\, Politician\, Victim of Stalking” and over a hundred more topics from all over the world! We can’t announce beforehand what specific topics/titles we’ll have at this event\, but we’ll have several to choose from!
