When oil exploration and extraction began\, it also initiated a fundamental change in the cultures that have traditionally coexisted with the natural resources of the region. Produced and edited by Megan Westervelt and Jorge Castillo. \nHELLBENT (20 minutes) \nIn a quiet rural township\, America’s largest amphibian is locally threatened with extinction by the installation of an injection well\, prompting biologists and community members to band together and protect their land in a novel way and save the hellbender. \nAbout the series \nAthena Cinema\, University Libraries and Environmental Studies Program present the 10th annual Sustainability Film Series. \nIn keeping with all previous series\, each film will be followed by a panel discussion featuring faculty members\, students and community members. The panel discussion for these films will be presented by Dr. Viorel Popescu. \nFollowing each film we invite audience members to join us for a panel discussion hosted by faculty members\, students and community members. You will be able to have conversations with your farmers\, watch artists in action and purchase their works\, and learn more about rural life. \nBy joining us on the all inclusive weekend Art and Farm Tour you will be guided throughout Athens County to visit four local artists at their studios and tour three farms to learn about their restorative agriculture practices. In addition\, a Farm to Table breakfast will be prepared for you\, a locally sourced picnic for lunch and dinner at Shade Winery on Saturday. On Sunday a local spread of products produced from the three farms we visit throughout the weekend will be served as an early afternoon brunch. \nThis experience includes learning and lodging on a working farm\, Woodland Ridge Farm and Learning Center and is ideal for travelers who are seeking a “back to nature” experience. Staying in the modern yet cozy solar powered guesthouse for the weekend provides a peaceful retreat. \nWeekend Itinerary: \nFriday \n\nGuests check into Woodland Ridge to get settled for the weekend.\nEnjoy the large shady deck with hot tub and grill.\nWalk around the farm to meet the plants and animals waiting to greet you.\nGather around the Bonfire as Bonnie Proudfoot provides a reading of her award winning novel\, Goshen Road.\n\nSaturday \n\nStart the day with a homegrown breakfast at Woodland Ridge and a morning nature walk around the farm.\nWe will begin at the Shade Community Center for a day of art\, exploration\, community\, and authentic experiences.\nArrive at Susie Abramovitz’s art studio\, Rock Riffle Pottery to watch Susie’s clay throwing demonstration.\nMeet the farmers at Integration Acres for a guided tour of their farm and enjoy a locally sourced picnic produced by Village Bakery.\nEnjoy a garden tour with Sue Zano and see the behind the scenes of a fine wood furniture shop\, Windsor Works.\nThe day will end with dinner reservations at Shade Winery.\n\nSunday \n\nThe bus will arrive at Woodland Ridge to head out to Companion Plants\, an internationally recognized herb nursery\, for a tour of their green houses and growing operation.\nRight down the road we will visit Betsy and Kait who have worked together in framing for over 20 years at the Art Park Design And Custom Framing studio and gallery\nThe next stop will be Creekside Farm\, where we will enjoy a locally sourced brunch grown and produced on sight and from neighboring farms. Creekside Farm is an Animal Welfare Approved farm run by a husband and wife team. We’ll have a chance to see the goats and hear about their operation.\nThe last stop of the day will be at Bonnie Proudfoot’s glass studio for a chance to get a glimpse into her creative space.\nThe tour will end back at Woodland Ridge.

SUMMARY:From the Hills and Hollers: WE ARE MARSHALL with Associate Professor Nerissa Young
DESCRIPTION:About the film \nA true story of tragedy\, hope\, and resilience comes to the screen in this sports drama. Huntington\, WV\, is home to Marshall University\, a school where college football is a way of life. Huntington is also a town that learned to deal with tragedy in the fall of 1970 when Marshall’s “Thundering Herd” boarded an airliner to return home after a football game in North Carolina. The jet crashed into a hill due to bad weather\, and 75 members of Marshall’s football squad and athletic staff died that night. \nThe accident dealt a crippling blow to the city of Huntington\, as well as Marshall’s faculty and student body\, and university president Donald Dedmon (David Strathairn) considered abandoning the school’s football program. But instead Coach Jack Lengyel (Matthew McConaughey) was recruited from Ohio’s College of Wooster to rebuild Marshall’s football program. DESCRIPTION:Giordano’s exhilarating drama Fedora returns to the Met for the first time in 25 years\, starring soprano Sonya Yoncheva in the title role of the 19th-century princess who falls in love with her fiancé’s murderer\, Count Loris\, sung by tenor Piotr Beczała. Soprano Rosa Feola is the Countess Olga\, Fedora’s confidante\, and baritone Artur Ruciński is the diplomat De Siriex.
