SUMMARY:Opening reception for 'Reanimated' by Adrian DesJardins at the Dairy Barn Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:Reanimated is an exhibition about transformation.  Mundane objects are isolated\, arranged and reanimated to give a completely new narrative to the object. The vintage items are purposefully incorporated onto custom built wood panels. The intention is always to elevate them to a more beautiful existence than they previously had. Vibrant colors and rich textures are incorporated to evoke curiosity. \nArtist Biography \nAdrian DesJardins is a self-taught\, rogue creative currently living in Millfield\, Ohio. He has lived and worked in Florida\, Georgia\, and Colorado before landing in Southeast Ohio. His inspiration comes in many forms ranging from impressionist artists such as Monet to dusty boxes of keys. Primarily an abstract artist working with several mediums\, including acrylic painting\, unique mixed media wall sculptures\, and brazed metal sculptures. \nMany years of working in construction has given Adrian exposure to countless building methods and materials. These are regularly used in unconventional ways to create truly unique art with a distinctly industrial vibe. Having the ability to construct oddly shaped wood panels gives him freedom from the limitations of traditional canvas. Frequently re-animating vintage hardware\, giving it a new narrative that evokes intrigue and curiosity

SUMMARY:'The Drowsy Chaperone' presented by the Actors Guild of Parkersburg
DESCRIPTION:The Actors Guild of Parkersburg is thrilled to announce its summer production of The Drowsy Chaperone\, a hilarious musical within a comedy that runs from July 25 to August 8 with performances Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m.\, Sunday\, July 27 at 2:30 p.m.\, and Sunday August 3 at 6 p.m. Tickets are on sale now at actors-guild.com/buy-tickets or by calling 304-485-1300. \nThe Drowsy Chaperone\, with a book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar and a score by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison\, tells the story of a die-hard theater fan who\, when he plays his favorite cast album\, sees the characters come to life in his apartment around him. \nWinner of five Tony Awards\, including Best Book and Best Original Score\, The Drowsy Chaperone is a loving send-up of the Golden Age musical\, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another. Hailed by New York Magazine as “The Perfect Broadway Musical\,” The Drowsy Chaperone is a masterful meta-musical\, poking fun at all the tropes that characterize the musical theatre genre. \nWith the houselights down\, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding\, a bumbling best man\, a desperate theater producer\, a not-so-bright hostess\, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs\, a misguided Don Juan\, and an intoxicated chaperone and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight. \nThe Drowsy Chaperone is rated AGP-PG and is directed by Brent Null with musical direction by Pete Sour\, choreography by Alexis Parsons\, assistant direction by Wendy Smith and Tim Tuten\, stage management by Lyndsay Nikole Richards\, and technical direction by Nathan Arnold. \nThe Cast (in order of appearance): \nMan in Chair – R.J.
SUMMARY:Beat the Heat: SONG OF THE SEA
DESCRIPTION:Song of the Sea\, the second film in Tomm Moore’s “Irish Folklore” trilogy\, is the story of a young Irish boy named Ben who learns that his mute sister Saoirse is actually a “selkie” — a mythological creature that can shapeshift from human form to that of a seal. The two children are the son and daughter of a lighthouse keeper’s wife who disappeared after giving birth to the girl and is presumed to have died. Ben has always believed that Saoirse was at fault for their mother’s death and is resentful; however\, when the duo run away from their Granny’s house to return to their lighthouse home\, they have an adventure beyond their wildest imaginations: Saoirse is tasked with using her magical power of song to save all the world’s mythological beings from the evil witch Macha\, and\, in the process\, restore the wholeness of her family’s broken home.

LOWE \nMrs. Tottendale – HOPE ELLER \nUnderling – JOSH WOODARD \nRobert Martin – MICHAEL MYLEN \nGeorge – CHRIS LEWIS \nFeldzieg – DANNY BAYER \nKitty – ALEX LENZO \nGangster 1 – CONNER MEDENDORP \nGangster 2 – JACK PEYTON \nAldolpho – HECTOR VELEZ \nJanet Van de Graaff – MACKENZIE PERRY \nThe Drowsy Chaperone – ALEXIS PARSONS \nTrix\, the Aviatrix – CHLOE RADER \nEnsemble – CASSIE CLINE\, HANNAH GRAY\, LEXI HOOVER\, SHROOM MOELLENDICK
