DESCRIPTION:Become an apprentice to masters like Leonardo da Vinci\, Michelangelo\, Georgia O’Keeffe\, or Mary Cassatt. Twice a month children in grades four through six will investigate the art\, style\, and technique used by a different master artist\, then they will create their own masterpiece. For each class\, participants will earn apprentice rewards to add to their very own artist palette. Fill the palette with colorful rewards to receive unique art supplies and discounts on future programs. \nNow offering two classes a month\, third Monday of the month\, 5:30–6:30 pm and third Saturday of the month\,10:30–11:30 am\, at the ZMA; Each class offers a unique project. $5 per session for members\, $10 per session for not-yet-members. All materials and a painting apron provided. DESCRIPTION:Athens’ Ohio’s favorite Fantasy Rock Band\, Amethystone is throwing a party to celebrate the release of their new album\, “The Alchemist.” This admission is a free family friendly event with special guest DJ and Emcee\, B-Funk Brandon Thompson. Amethystone will perform their new album “The Alchemist” in its entirety with special performances  by dancer Ellie Olin. \nLocal Artists Chris Monday\, Kasey Jones\, and the Passion Works Crew will be on hand creating original works of art to be auctioned off to benefit local charities Stuart’s Opera House and Live Healthy Appalachia. \nEveryone will have the opportunity to take part in a collaborative art project with Passion Works that will be auctioned off at the end of the evening to benefit Passion Works! \n“A Passion Works Circle Painting is a large piece of recycled fabric stretched out on a insulation board and set out on a table. This set up welcomes people to walk up and collaborate by painting and drawing however they want to. Every addition changes the look of the piece and ultimately creates a unified composition.”

SUMMARY:Birds in the Hills Festival
DESCRIPTION:Join Rural Action\, Camp Oty’Okwa\, and the Athens Area Birders for our family-friendly Birds in the Hills Festival May 8-10 at Eclipse Company Store in The Plains\, Ohio. This affordable three-day festival will feature family-friendly activities as well as tours to local birding hotspots. We welcome anyone with even a remote interest in birds and the outdoors\, including those who have never picked up a pair of binoculars. \nBirds in the Hills Festival will feature birding by kayak with Touch the Earth Adventures\, and all-day birding tour of the Little Cities of Black Diamonds region\, tours of the local breeding population of Prothonotary Warblers\, a birding by bicycle tour\, and hike at United Plant Savers searching for birds and spring wildflowers. Participants can expect to see and hear a plethora of migratory songbirds. \nWe will have family-friendly activities\, art for sale\, live music\, and keynote presentations at Eclipse throughout the weekend. The base admission fee is $10 and field trips will be on an ala carte basis. Online registration will be ready here by mid-March.
