DESCRIPTION:VEGAS: Betting on a Cure! That’s the overall Relay For Life theme this year for the newly merged Relay For Life of Greater Athens. The American Cancer Society is having just one of its signature fundraising events in the county this year as the Athens County & Ohio University events merged last fall. The 21st annual event is aiming to end cancer with this year’s 9-hour team based walk. Hundreds of Athens County residents\, Hocking College students and Ohio University students will take part in this year’s event. \nEvent schedule: 6:00pm: Opening Ceremony 6:00pm-Midnight: Chinese Auction 6:15pm: Survivor Celebration Lap\, Caregiver Lap & Team Lap 6:30pm: Survivor Dinner and Open Walk begins 7:30pm: Live Auction by Shamrock Auction Service\, LLC 8:00pm: Yoga by Inhale Yoga Studio & Corn-hole Tournament 9:00pm: Luminaria Ceremony with Title IX Performance followed by Fireworks by Hamburg Fireworks 10:00pm: Miss Relay Pageant 11:00pm: Glow in the Dark 5K 12:15am: Section 8 Acapella Performance 12:30am: Zumba by Ernesto and DJ Rockin Reggie begins 1:00am: T-shirt Tie Dye 2:45am: Closing Ceremony \nFood and soft drink fundraisers will be available throughout the evening. The public is welcome & encouraged to attend any and all parts of the event as it takes a community to fight cancer! \nThis year’s event fundraising goal is to raise $45\,000.
