The event will be held in the Robert L. Winters Memorial Performance Space on November 18\, 2016\, at 6pm. \nThe mission of WOAP is to showcase the way in which female artists respond to the Appalachian region as a source of inspiration\, bringing together women from diverse backgrounds\, ages and experiences to embrace the stereotype – to show the whole woman; beyond the superficial factors that people use to judge her. Doors open at 5:30pm. The presentation is free to the public\, though donations in support of WOAP and ARTS/West will be taken at the door. DESCRIPTION:This years Holiday Homes Tour will continue with the Elegant East End.  Due to the enormous interest in the old East End last year\, our tour coordinator Therese Lackey convinced another 4 families to open their doors to celebrate the season! \nTime:  Sunday\, December 4 from 1:00-4:00pm! \nPlace: \n31 Utah Place\, home of Scott and Marjorie Malcom \n37 Utah Place\, home of Trent Skidmore and Teresa Ungolo \n32 Strathmore\, home of Pete Good \n38 Strathmore\, home of Judith Smith \nTickets are $10 each for members of ACHS&M/Southeast Ohio History Center and $15 each to the general public.  Tickets will be sold through The Southeast Ohio History Center so you can either call us at 740-592-2280\, charge your tickets (which will be mailed to you) or you can stop in at 24 W. State Street and see Elias in our temporary gift shop located through the front doors of the History Center on W. State. You can also come to any home during the tour and buy tickets as well! \nWatch the Athens News on November 21 for its pull out section on the tour\, giving you great information on these beautiful homes.  All homes this year are located together so walking from one to the next will be a breeze! \nPlease join us for this holiday tradition which helps fund the Southeast Ohio History Center and is always a wonderful start to December merry making!

SUMMARY:15th Annual Good Works Walk
DESCRIPTION:The Good Works Walk is for adults and children of all ages. This year\, five different interactive experiences have been developed to creatively inspire and inform participants about the problems people without homes face\, and issues of poverty in rural Appalachian Ohio. Each Walk will travel to different parts of the city of Athens for engaging experiences. We even create a route each year for individuals who find it difficult to walk far distances. Though this is a fundraising event\, we do encourage participation regardless of funds raised. There is no registration cost. \nThe Timothy House is the only shelter for people experiencing homelessness in eight counties and the goal of the Walk is to raise 1/3 of the total funding needed for the Timothy House ($60\,000) for 2017. The Timothy House has provided more than 110\,000 nights of shelter since 1981. January 1st marked Good Works 36th year of providing shelter to the rural homeless. People interested in supporting The Walk are encouraged to visit www.goodworkswalk.net or call 740.594.3339 to obtain further information on getting Walk sponsor packets. \nWe hope you will walk with us Saturday\, February 18!
