Homeless individuals are brought together in a single location and are provided access to the community resources needed to begin addressing their individual problems and rebuilding their lives. With the realization that homelessness is a  community issue\, the Athens Area Stand Down is open to anyone experiencing  homelessness or is at risk for homelessness.

DESCRIPTION:  \nLocal Girls Community Christmas Concert at Southeast Ohio History Center \nThe Southeast Ohio History Center is happily hosting The Local Girls Annual Community Christmas Concert on Sunday\, December 10 at 2pm. \nThe Local Girls accompanied David Bromberg\, performed at the White House\, and provided music for two award-winning series on NPR\, as well as PBS-TV. A Prairie Home Companion gig was one of their favorites. In the summer of 2004\, The Local Girls performed throughout Germany\, Austria and France and on the streets of Vienna. They have been described as “a soundfest of three-part harmony that is so good it can make you cry with joy”\, by local musician\, Roman Warmke. \nThe Local Girls\, Mimi Hart\, Gay Dalzell and Brenda Catania will be joined by musicians Kyle Slemmer\, Mark Hellenberg\, and their tried and true backup band of Michael McGannon and Terry Douds. \nThe concert will have a special appearance by Sarah Hart\, a singer/songwriter whose songs have been recorded by many. Hart performed\, by special request\, for Pope Francis at the Vatican. Now the Local Girls and Sarah Hart are here to play for their own beloved community at our own Southeast Ohio History Center.
