Athens Pride Fest is a week long celebration of solidarity\, diversity\, unity\, and activism. \nDoors at 7PM. Performance begins at 8PM. Comedians Brooke Cartus\,Whitney Chitwood\, Scott Duff\, and Brittany Meyer will put on an uproariously hilarious show for Athens Pride Fest. Read more about the comedians below! \nThe showcase will feature four renowned comedians. Three comedians featured in the showcase are traveling from Chicago to perform: Whitney Chitwood\, Scott Duff and Brittany Meyer. Named the best comedian in Columbus\, Brooke Cartus will also be performing in the showcase. \nChicago Comedian Whitney Chitwood has been featured by MoveOn.Organd is a frequent contributor to The Paper Machete at Chicago’s Green Mill and OUT Chicago on WCPT. Additionally\, Whit has worked with the likes of the great Eddie Pepitone and performed at Riot LA\, Cinderblock Comedy Festival\, FoCoMX\, Altercation Comedy Festival\, the Chicago Laugh Factory\, and Hollywood Improv. \nScott Duff is a stand up comedian\, actor\, radio host\, and “professional gay” based in Chicago. He is the host/producer of Chigaygo!\, Laugh Factory Chicago’s night of queer comedy\, and has gayed up audiences at venues all over the city and the midwest. He has performed with Steppenwolf\, Goodman\, Chicago Shakespeare\, About Face Theatre\, ATC\, and Lookingglass Theatre. You can listen to Scott every Sunday on OUT CHICAGO\, a weekly live talk show for the LGBT community. \nBrittany Meyer (they/them) is a powerful voice for the LGBTQAI+ community. Brittany has established their niche in the comedy community as a performer and a producer who shines a light on voices that need elevating. Their body-positive showcase Strip Joker partners with “You are Beautiful” to showcase diverse voices\, comedic styles\, and bodies in various states of undress. The show has been featured in the Cream City Comedy Festival\, Memphis Comedy Fest\, Chicago Women’s Funny Festival\, Lady Laughs Comedy Festival\, and The Drop Comedy Club. When they’re not producing their own shows\, they’re performing all over at venues and shows like Laugh Factory\, Zanies\, Chicago Underground Comedy\, We Still Like You\, Funny Grabs Back\, and HER; a fundraiser for the Human Rights Campaign. \nBrooke Cartus is a comedian\, emcee\, activist and attorney based in Columbus\, Ohio. Her sardonic storytelling and improvisational style has helped her land shows with Colin Quinn\, Fortune Feimster\, Erin Foley\, Ian Harvie\, Rhea Butcher and Dana Goldberg. She has performed at TedXColumbusWomen and has been featured in the Limestone Comedy Festival\, Arch City Comedy Festival\, Whiskey Bear Comedy Festival\, and Out of Bounds Comedy Festival in 2017. DESCRIPTION:The Vinton County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Raccoon Creek Outfitters to host Backpacks and Kayaks\, a unique fundraising event to raise money to purchase backpacks and school supplies for local children in need. Beginning at noon on August 4\, ticket holders will be treated to a kayaking scavenger hunt on Raccoon Creek\, followed by food\, music\, and a bonfire. Food will be catered by Taste of the Good Life. Craft beer will be supplied by Pat Quackenbush. Live music will be provided by The Blues Cowboys. There will be door prizes\, games\, and activities throughout the event. The event will run from noon to at least 7:00 p.m. \nTickets cost $35 per person and are available for sale at the Vinton County Chamber of Commerce office and Raccoon Creek Outfitters. Children younger than 12 do not need a ticket. Tickets for the music performance(s) only (no kayak rides or food) can be purchased at the gate on the day of the event for $10. DESCRIPTION:Freedom Missionary Baptist Church will hold a Clothing Give-A-Way on Thursday September 6th from 11am-5pm and Saturday September 8th from 10am-4pm. Everything is free including hotdogs\, chips and snacks for lunch. Held rain or shine in the basement of the church located at 1981 Barnett Ridge Rd.\, Belpre OH in the Barlow community. GPS:43672 Stumptown Road\, Cadiz\, Ohio 43907. \nTHE 15th ANNUAL OLD CONTRUCTION & MINING EQUIPMENT SHOW IS BEING DEDICATED IN THE MEMORY OF DAVE McDONNELL. \nAntique trucks\, construction\, and surface mining will be on static display and in operation throughout the weekend. Equipment owned by the Harrison Coal & Reclamation Historical Park (HCRHP)\, members of the HCRHP\, members of the Ohio Valley Chapter of the Historical Construction Equipment Association\, and other organizations will be displayed or in operation such as draglines\, shovels\, trucks\, crawlers\, dozers\, and more. Show runs Saturday from 10am-6pm and Sunday 9am-4pm. Equipment will be in operation around 10am-6pm Saturday and 9am-4pm Sunday. This is a fundraiser for Stuart’s Opera House\, and this beautiful train ride on the Hocking Valley Scenic Railway includes wine\, cheese\, and more and its all for a good cause. We will be leaving a little early for this one to be able to see the fall colors. Show your support for Stuart’s and join us for this great event\, take a ride on a historic railway and enjoy wine and good company. See you on the train! This one is leaving right at 6:00pm. Doors will open at 5:00pm for picking up tickets at the Nelsonville Depot at 33 Canal Street.  If you buy a ticket to the Fall Wine Express you will receive a discount code for $7 off a Winter Wine Express (December 15th) ticket! \nFrequently Asked Questions: \nHow long is the trip? The entire train ride is roughly an hour and a half. \nHow do we get the wine? You’ll recieve three drink tickets while boarding the train and you can exchange one ticket for a glass of wine. If you would like to purchase more drink tickets you can purchase additional tickets for $5 a ticket. \nCan I bring my own wine? No\, no outside alcohol is permitted. \nWill there be beer? No. Just wine. \nCan I bring my own food? Yes! Feel free to bring snacks in additional to the snacks provided. \nWhat are/ when do we receive the snacks provided?
