Join this field day to see a chestnut orchard in person\, tour a processing facility\, and learn about how the individuals at Route 9 Cooperative are making value-added flours from chestnuts and acorns. \nRural Action has partnered with Route 9 to trial the use of a coffee roaster to enhance the flavor of nut products for use in baked goods\, beverages\, and dairy products. \nAttendees can expect to learn about growing and gathering the nuts to roasting and processing the flour. SUMMARY:Silvopasture Tour: Hidden Creek Pasture
DESCRIPTION:Tour a 7-acre silvopasture on a pastured beef & chicken farm in Noble County! \n\n\n\n\nThis silvopasture tour will take place at Hidden Creek Pasture where Wendall Miller\, his wife Carla\, and their five children manage 70 acres of rolling farm and woodlands. They raise pastured beef and chicken using managed grazing to improve their soils and produce healthy\, nutrient dense foods for their family and community. \nIn December 2025\, they established silvopasture by planting 10 species of trees on 7 acres. Tree species include honey locusts\, persimmon\, apple\, white oak\, burr oak\, hybrid poplar\, willow\, mulberry\, pecan and chestnut. Attendees can expect to learn about reasons to establish silvopasture and key considerations for tree protection methods\, layout design\, and planting tips. \nREGISTER HERE

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the harvest at our annual fall show\, featuring live music\, good food and community. This will be a special celebration of the Shew Farm transition into MoSo’s hands with music from Pete Shew’s band\, the Back Porch Swing Band\, as well as the Sowash Family Band. Bring a chair and potluck dish to share. This is a free event! Donations are encouraged for the musicians. \nWho will be performing? \n\nBack Porch Swing Band – If you’re looking for a band with a swingin’ rhythm and an old timey flavor\, look no further! The Back Porch Swing Band plays a variety of old-timey music ranging from Americana and early country to foot-tapping swing and early rock ’n’ roll.\n\n\nSowash Family Band – Music has been a core part of our family for generations.
