The Superhero 5k features costumed runners\, a course full of superhero favorites and maybe even a villain or 2 to chase through the course. This years Superhero 5k is brought to you by OhioHealth and Power 105! \nHappening just before the 5k\, the youngest superheroes around will participate in a Kids Adventure Course complete with silly obstacles and fun\, all while the Superhero Runners cheer them on before beginning their 5k race! After the race\, stick around for prizes going to our top runners\, the best costumes and the top fundraisers.  \nAll of the proceeds from the event support the mission of the Athens CASA/GAL Program\, which is a court-based agency that recruits and trains community volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs). CASA Volunteers represent the best interests of children who are involved in the Juvenile Court System because of abuse and neglect. Without CASA Volunteers\, children are left to navigate the system without a trained advocate by their side. Community support helps make sure that even more volunteers can be recruited and trained! \nCheck in and registration begins at 9am and the racing begins at 10am. SUMMARY:Rendville Emancipation Day 2019
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating Diversity with history\, music\, art\, and a potluck lunch. It’s the annual Rendville reunion of those who grew up in this unique town – and all who celebrate diversity in 2019! \nThis year’s event honors residents Ted & Corlyn Altier… In 1997 Corlyn\, Ted\, and her Mom\, Elizabeth Speake\, purchased 3 pieces of property\, on top of the hill past the old Rendville School. A Perry County auction was held to turn distressed parcels into tax generating properties. Ted is originally from Corning and grew up on the history of Rendville.  Corlyn served as clerk/treasurer from 2000-2007 and was instrumental in restarting Emancipation Day.  Ted served on council for over 5 years and he and Corlyn were always willing to go the extra mile for the community.
