SUMMARY:We Are Reopening Wednesday\, August 12!
DESCRIPTION:What an emotional ride these last few months have been. From all of us at the History Center\, we hope that you are continuing to stay safe and healthy. We have certainly missed seeing you and we are thrilled to be reopening our doors on Wednesday\, August 12th. We will offer special\, Members Only hours Wednesday through Saturday\, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We will be open to the general public Wednesday through Saturday\, from 12:30 to 3:30 PM. \nWhile we have been closed\, we have been working hard to transform the History Center. We have a new floor in our Great Hall\, and new exhibits for you to see! \nOur community has also experienced many changes since March. Many people are struggling with unemployment and uncertainty. Because we believe in the power of our past to shape and define our region’s future\, we want history to be accessible to everyone. For this reason\, we are proud to announce that we are reducing our admission rates. \nAdult admission is now $5; while tickets for students\, seniors\, and military personnel are $3. We also want to show our support for people who are working especially hard to serve our community\, so first responders\, healthcare workers\, and educators can also visit the History Center for the $3 discounted rate. Just show your ID badge at the front desk! Members and children under 12 are\, of course\, free! \nBe sure to visit our website for more information on what to expect when you visit the History Center. We’re looking forward to seeing all of you\, soon!

SUMMARY:'Truth or Myth' Guided Walking Tour
DESCRIPTION:Tickets are selling quickly for our 90-minute guided walking tour on Oct. 2 in downtown Lancaster\, Ohio.\n\n\nMeet costumed re-enactors who will tell stories about amazing characters from Lancaster’s history. Buy yours by calling 740-654-9923 or visiting our website www.FairfieldHeritage.com.\n• Tour times are 6pm (SOLD OUT)\, 6:30pm\, 7pm\, 7:30pm\, and 8pm.\n• Only 15 tickets are available for each time slot.\n• Please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella if it looks like rain.\n• Yes\, you have to wear a mask during the tour.\n• We plan to hold this tour rain or shine – short of a blizzard\, tornado\, tsunami\, meteor strike or some other act of God because it is 2020. In that case\, we’ll cheerfully issue a refund.\n\n\nAll proceeds benefit the Fairfield County Heritage Association\, a nonprofit organization that owns and operates the Sherman House Museum and the Georgian Museum; champions preservation and revitalization; and offers historic programming\, like this tour.

SUMMARY:Pushing the Surface
DESCRIPTION:The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum’s exhibition of contemporary art quilts\, Pushing the Surface\, will be open to the public on May 29th. The exhibition is a dance of color\, beauty\, ingenuity\, and story that showcases pieces made by 22 artists with national and international recognition. Surfaces may be pieced and patched as one finds in a traditional quilt\, but they may also be painted\, dyed\, laser printed\, appliquéd\, or fused. The techniques are as varied as the subject matter\, which is as varied as the effects. In the end\, the artists create a truly new statement.
