DESCRIPTION:Join Appalachian Understories in a collaboration with the Southeast Ohio Historic Center as we ride through Dover township and explore the ruins of coal mining structures\, ride over the covered bridge and hear about the legacy of the Millfield mine disaster at the monument site. This is a 12 mile ride with 627 ft elevation gain and a max gradient of 9.6% this is a non supported tour meaning participants should come prepared with water and personal bike repair kits. Helmets and closed toe shoes required. The ride will begin and end at the Baileys Trail System parking lot in Chauncey.

DESCRIPTION:Ride with us through the beautiful back roads of Athens County for a 20 mile wine tour. You will have the opportunity to patronize two wineries along the ride. We will ride from Dutch Creek Winery to Wolftree Winery where we will stop to taste some of Bradly’s meads and wines. You will have a chance to walk through the vineyard and hear how Bradly built his Winery from the ground up. From Wolftree we will loop back to Dutch Creek Winery where we will end the tour and have more opportunity to sample or purchase a bottle. This tour is 19.3 miles with 1\,605 feet of elevation gain with a max grade of 10.7% on some gravel roads. This is a non-supported tour meaning cyclist should come prepared with personal repair kits and water. Helmets and closed toe shoes are required.

A portion of all ticket sales will go to the efforts of the Mount Zion Baptist Church Preservation Society to restore the historic church as a thriving community hub once again. Your participation will help Mount Zion accomplish their mission of supporting the contributions\, history\, and ongoing concerns of Black Americans everywhere. This tour will be a 1.5 mile walk on paved roads and sidewalks around uptown Athens with some hills. DESCRIPTION:Revisit Nelsonville’s boom days of the 1800’s from George Stuart\, portrayed by Bob Garbo. George was an active leader during the coal boom\, the canal and early railroad days as well as 1860’s entertainment on his canal boat\, the Arizona. In 1879\, all his efforts led eventually to the construction of one of the finest opera houses in the Region. Take a tour backstage to see the improvements over time as well as the preservation of original dressing rooms from those boom days of entertainment. A portion of all ticket sales will support the Arts Education Program that provides artistic opportunity for local residents of all ages regardless of income.

DESCRIPTION:Cycle from Olde Pickerington Village to Lockville on this 14 mile guided bike tour. You will feel as though you have stepped back in time once arriving at the Hartman #2 Covered Bridge in Lockville Canal Park. Local historians will be dressed in period clothing as they share stories of what life was like while the canals were in use. We will then peddle to Coyote Run\, Ohio’s newest State Nature Preserve where we will hear about the restoration efforts of the preserve. The tour will ride through Sycamore Creek Park\, which has the covered bridge\, Zeller-Smith Bridge\, and Sycamore Creek Park Arboretum. The Zeller-Smith Bridge will be our last stop\, here participants will listen to stories of how the bridge was relocated and almost destroyed in the process. \n  \nThe tour will begin and end at the public parking lot 89 N Center Street in Olde Pickerington\, located across the tracks from Combustion Brewery & Taproom and around the corner from Porter’s Coffee House and Bakery. This is a non-supported ride\, meaning participants should come prepared with personal bike repair kits and water. Participants should expect mostly paved roads with some crush limestone and 366 ft elevation gain with 3.1% max grade. DESCRIPTION:Join Ornithologist Lynn Holtzman for a birding by bike guided tour along the Moonville trail. Lynn will share his knowledge and passion of birding as he rides with the group for up to 8 miles over 3 hours. Lynn with stop to point out different habitats along the ride\, including the various wetlands that provide habitat for Prothonotary Warblers\, Blue Herons and Bald Eagles just to name a few. The tour will begin and end at the Waterloo Fire Department parking lot. Local refreshment will be provided for participants. \nAdaptive bikes are available for participants with limited mobility\, requests must be made in advance. Helmets are required for all participants.

SUMMARY:Growing Glouster\, A Glimpse into the Past and Present
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we step back in time and to hear stories of the past from the colorful mayor of Glouster\, Hugh Gormley played by Glouster resident Maggi Gifford. You will hear stories of how the mayor was found in fighting brawls in the middle of town and learn about the rich history of the region. We will then hear from local entrepreneur Jane Cavarozzi of Dirty Girl Coffee about her plans for opening up a storefront in downtown Glouser. Dirty Girl Coffee will be available to for refreshments during the tour. In addition we will hear from the Survivor Advocacy Outreach Program and their renovation plans for a building in downtown Glouster for their New Leaf Market place. We will end the tour at the oldest kickboxing gym in America\, Sam’s Gym where we will be hearing from kickboxing ledgin Sam Jones.
