DESCRIPTION:You are invited to attend the 49th Annual Athens Invitational Marching Festival on Saturday\, October 5 at 10:00am at Athens High School’s Joe Burrow Stadium! This festival is the 3rd longest running marching band festival in the state of Ohio. High School bands from Southeast and Central Ohio will perform at this prestigious event! Bands scheduled to attend include: Trimble\, Nelsonville-York\, River Valley\, Waterford\, Belpre\, Meigs\, Bloom Carroll\, Marietta\, Berne Union\, Dawson Bryant\, Licking Heights\, Olentangy Liberty\, and Athens. The festival is sponsored by the Athens Band Boosters\, Kiwanis Club of Downtown Athens\, and Chauncey-Dover Lions. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children. The gates will open at 9:00am and the festival will conclude with a performance by the Athens High School Marching Green and Gold at 1:45pm. Proceeds go to benefit these community organizations. We look forward to seeing you at this exciting musical event!

DESCRIPTION:It’s playtime at The Nest!\n\nBreak the routine\, get out of the house and come let your little ones play in a fresh space while you get to talk with other grown-ups for awhile!\n\nCome and go as you please anytime during our open play hours.  Toys and activities are geared towards babies and toddlers but older siblings are welcome to come along.\n\nWhile you’re here\, peruse the lending library of books\, DVDs and even baby carriers free to borrow!\n\nTuesdays masks are optional\, while Thursdays are mask-only for those who prefer a “mask-on” environment.\n\nDisinfectant wipes are always available and we have a tub for toys that have been “mouthed” so they can be washed before future use.\n\nA changing table and toddler potty are available as well as a bottle warmer and fridge for storing formula/milk.

DESCRIPTION:Each Thursday in October and November (except for Thanksgiving) enjoy an hour of quiet meditation.  We meet at Serenity Roots\, 8950 Lavelle Rd.\, from noon to 1:00.  This is a non-religious\, silent meditation. It is hosted by Athens KTC Buddhist Center\, to help add tranquility into people’s lives.  There is no registration needed.  Cushions and chairs provided.  We start with 20 minutes quiet seated meditation\, then whoever wants to\, can do a walking meditation around the room about three times\, then seated meditation for about 20 minutes.   There is no charge\, however a donation of $4.00 would help pay the rent for the hour.
