DESCRIPTION:Each Thursday in October and November (except for Thanksgiving) enjoy an hour of quiet meditation.  We meet at Serenity Roots\, 8950 Lavelle Rd.\, from noon to 1:00.  This is a non-religious\, silent meditation. It is hosted by Athens KTC Buddhist Center\, to help add tranquility into people’s lives.  There is no registration needed.  Cushions and chairs provided.  We start with 20 minutes quiet seated meditation\, then whoever wants to\, can do a walking meditation around the room about three times\, then seated meditation for about 20 minutes.   There is no charge\, however a donation of $4.00 would help pay the rent for the hour.

SUMMARY:Tantrum Theater and Invisible Ground present West State Street Cemetery History Tour on Nov. 16
DESCRIPTION:Ohio University’s professional theater company Tantrum Theater has partnered with Athens-based media arts project Invisible Ground to lead development of a Historic Walking Tour of West State Street Cemetery created by seventh and eighth-grade students from the Athens Middle School’s Andrew Jackson Davison Club (AJDC).\n\nAJDC students researched local history\, took tours\, interviewed local experts in the humanities and collaborated in small groups to cover topics in the cemetery ranging from black history to Revolutionary War Veterans to the iconic recording angel statue. Angela Hall\, an eighth grade social studies teacher and Andrew Jackson Davison Club advisor\, and Madison Donohue of Appalachian Understories also worked with the students to develop their research and presentations.\n\nThe final product is a public tour of this historic cemetery on Saturday\, Nov. 16\, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.\, when the students will share the stories of the many famous Athenians buried there.\n\nAlong with the public tour\, Invisible Ground has created an online self-guided tour and printed pamphlet\, so residents and visitors can learn more about West State Street Cemetery. Visit findinvisibleground.com for more details.\n\nThis project was made possible through funding by Tantrum Theater and the Ohio Arts Council in collaboration with the Andrew Jackson Davison Club at Athens Middle School\, Mount Zion Black Cultural Center\, the Southeast Ohio History Center\, Appalachian Understories\, Ohio University and the City of Athens.\n\nThe event is free and open to the public. DESCRIPTION:Each year the Stinner Summit gathers farmers\, researchers\, educators\, policy leaders\, and organizations together in a different region of Ohio. Using a participatory process\, specific project ideas are crafted and funded through the Stinner Endowment. This year the event returns to southeast Ohio with a focus on Supporting Healthy Appalachian Agroecosystems. \nThere is no cost to attend\, but participants must pre-register by November 8. The Stinner Summit is an opportunity to learn what others are doing to advance local food systems\, share individual ideas and experiences\, and pool resources to design community-led initiatives. DESCRIPTION:It’s playtime at The Nest!\n\nBreak the routine\, get out of the house and come let your little ones play in a fresh space while you get to talk with other grown-ups for awhile!\n\nCome and go as you please anytime during our open play hours.  Toys and activities are geared towards babies and toddlers but older siblings are welcome to come along.\n\nWhile you’re here\, peruse the lending library of books\, DVDs and even baby carriers free to borrow!\n\nTuesdays masks are optional\, while Thursdays are mask-only for those who prefer a “mask-on” environment.\n\nDisinfectant wipes are always available and we have a tub for toys that have been “mouthed” so they can be washed before future use.\n\nA changing table and toddler potty are available as well as a bottle warmer and fridge for storing formula/milk.

DESCRIPTION:Each Thursday in October and November (except for Thanksgiving) enjoy an hour of quiet meditation.  We meet at Serenity Roots\, 8950 Lavelle Rd.\, from noon to 1:00.  This is a non-religious\, silent meditation. It is hosted by Athens KTC Buddhist Center\, to help add tranquility into people’s lives.  There is no registration needed.  Cushions and chairs provided.  We start with 20 minutes quiet seated meditation\, then whoever wants to\, can do a walking meditation around the room about three times\, then seated meditation for about 20 minutes.   There is no charge\, however a donation of $4.00 would help pay the rent for the hour.
