DESCRIPTION:She was the first woman to run for president – and did it before women were allowed to vote. \nShe was a pioneer for women’s rights\, but was virtually written out of the history of women’s suffrage. \nShe faced the worst sort of harassment and verbal abuse for her stances\, but refused to back down. \nShe was an advocate for free love in an era in which women who had liaisons outside of marriage were social pariahs\, when even writing about the topic was shocking and indelicate. \nShe was an advocate for women’s financial independence and ran the first woman-owned brokerage firm with the backing of Cornelius Vanderbilt. \nShe refused to back down from the truth\, even when she was sent to jail for it. \nShe was Ohio’s own Victoria Woodhull and she’s the subject of our next Lecture Series event on March 22 at 6pm. \nPlease join us as Robin Schuricht discusses this amazing woman’s forgotten contributions to American history. Barnett and Strischek will present the story of how the prehistoric spear-throwing tool provided early hunters with greater power and range and accuracy for use in survival than when throwing a spear by hand alone. \nThe Lycheon Luncheon Speaker Series is a monthly lunchtime opportunity to learn a bit about the rich local history of this region where Ohio began. When he is expelled from school for the sixth time\, his mother decides that it is time for Percy to know the truth. The Greek gods are real and\, what’s more\, Percy is a demigod\, the son of Poseidon. Along with fellow demigod Annabeth (the daughter of Athena) and best friend and protector Grover (who happens to be a Satyr)\, Percy must go on an epic quest to retrieve Zeus’ stolen lightning bolt and prevent war amongst the gods. The quest turns into an epic adventure\, with the Furies\, Medusa\, and Ares (the god of war) among those wanting to stop Percy in his tracks. \n

SUMMARY:ABC Players present "The Full Monty"
DESCRIPTION:Six men stemming from Columbus\, Athens to Parkersburg are ready to put it all out there\, but will they really go “the full monty?” Come see for yourself as ABC Players presents “The Full Monty” at the historic Stuart’s Opera House from March 7-9 and 14-16. The Friday and Saturday performances will start at 7:30 p.m. with 2 p.m. matinees on Sundays. \n“The Full Monty” follows six unemployed Buffalo steelworkers\, low on both cash and prospects\, as they decide to present a strip act at a local club after seeing their wives’ enthusiasm for a strip act and the cash it can bring in. As they prepare for the show\, working through their fears\, self-consciousness\, and anxieties\, they overcome their insecurities and find strength in their camaraderie. \nThe perfect show for a girls’ night out and for anyone who has struggled with insecurities and the ebbs and flows of relationships\, this show is sure to make you empathize with the various stories while leaving a fun and entertaining impression. \nWith music and lyrics by David Yazbek and a book by Terrence McNally\, “The Full Monty” bares it all with heart\, comedy and a look inside what a person will do to help provide for their loved ones.
