DESCRIPTION:A quarter century ago\, a small band of British citizens got together to save the ancient\, woodland practices of coppicing\, badgering\, and greenwoodworking. Through their Woodland Pioneers Program\, they have been training professional coppicers as well as introducing amateurs to traditional\, woodland crafts. \n  \nPioneer members are coming here to the States this summer\, possibly the only time in human history\, to bring these skills to the Appalachian Ohio Community through Woodland Pioneers: Ohioneers! \n  \nJoin us for a weekend long series of workshops to learn how to use a shavehorse\, a drawknife\, a froe\, and a knocker. Don’t know what those things are? No problem! We’ll teach you as we make a woven hurdle panel\, a small cleft gate\, and treen. We’ll drink loads of tea and eat heaps of cake while learning how to make a wooden bowl on a pole lathe\, and more broadly\, how to establish a sustainable and regenerative wood plot through the ancient practice of coppicing. \n  \nEvent fee covers the weekend of workshops\, primitive camping\, and vegetarian meals.

DESCRIPTION:It’s playtime at The Nest!\n\nBreak the routine\, get out of the house and come let your little ones play in a fresh space while you get to talk with other grown-ups for awhile!\n\nCome and go as you please anytime during our open play hours.  Toys and activities are geared towards babies and toddlers but older siblings are welcome to come along.\n\nWhile you’re here\, peruse the lending library of books\, DVDs and even baby carriers free to borrow!\n\nTuesdays masks are optional\, while Thursdays are mask-only for those who prefer a “mask-on” environment.\n\nDisinfectant wipes are always available and we have a tub for toys that have been “mouthed” so they can be washed before future use.\n\nA changing table and toddler potty are available as well as a bottle warmer and fridge for storing formula/milk.

The grand reopening will take place on June 6 at 7:30 p.m. and will launch a new monthly recurring variety show series\, Live From Tuesday Creek. \nOpening night will feature performances from local artists including The Laughing Chimes\, Brian and Henry Harnetty\, Mike Boley\, Megan Bee\, and more\, alongside historical vignettes that highlight the heritage and enduring spirit of Southern Perry County’s Little Cities of Black Diamonds microregion. \nA recurring feature of the monthly show will include a mini-play titled\, This Time Around\, presented in episodic installments during each Live from Tuesday Creek event. Set within the fictional community of Tuesday Creek\, the series will introduce audiences to an evolving cast of characters and stories that we hope attendees will grow to know and love over time. \n“Shawnee and the Little Cities of Black Diamonds/Little Cities of the Forest microregion is made up of two historically coal impacted watersheds: Sunday and Monday Creeks\, which is also the footprint of the Athens Unit of the Wayne National Forest. Tuesday Creek exists in our imagination as a way to share our story\, past\, present and future as part of working to rebuild our culture and economy this time around\,” John Winnenberg\, co-founder of Sunday Creek Associates\, says.
