Student Misconceptions

• Students may not have a conceptual understanding of the food web and that energy transfer can move in many directions: for example from plants to cows to insects to other insects to mammals to fish.
• A surprising number of students don’t think of insects as animals.
• Students may not think of plants as predators and insects as carnivores.
