ApplesAgriculture drew many early settlers to Ohio. Apples have been produced since entrepreneur Jonathan Chapman, better know as Johnny Appleseed, brought 16 bushels of apple seeds to the Ohio Country in 1801.

Apples are grown all over Ohio. Ohio usually ranks about 10th in the United States in Apple production. The following counties each have over 400 acres of land used for growing apples each year: Columbiana, Licking, Lorain, Ashtabula, Sandusky, and Erie.
