Location

Forests cover about one quarter of Ohio. Southeastern Ohio has more forested areas than the rest of the state. The trees are usually hardwood trees such as maple, beech, oak, and hickory. Only about 5 percent of Ohio trees are evergreens. Other plants that grow naturally in Ohio are black-eyed Susan, buttercup, chamomile, dandelion, honeysuckle, Queen Anne’s lace, and the sunflower.
