Places and Regions

The bricks in this picture were made by the Roseville Brick and Terra Cotta Company many years ago. Many places in Ohio used bricks for their streets and roads. Today, over half of Ohio's clay and shale is used to make building bricks. Clay is also used to line landfills because it is hard for water to seep through hardened clay. Clay is also used in the making of cement.
