Students view the history of Western astronomy through a ‘dinner meeting’ of famous astronomers from Ptolemy to Galileo. Examining the history of astronomy, students see that science is a human endeavor that is limited by the observations and instruments of that era. It was not until the 16th century that the notion of the sun being the center of the known universe became scientifically accepted. With the advancement of technology and mathematics astronomers continue to enhance our understanding of the universe.
