Aluminum Can Cutting and Upcycling!
December 14, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm$20
Are you amused by the big upcycled windchime by Dan Laurence at ReUse on Union?
Come learn how to make one for yourself!
In this introductory class, Dan will show you all his best tricks for efficiently cutting common aluminum beverage cans to best utilize their bottoms, sides, and unique design elements.
Students will then learn methods for cutting shapes from, folding, and hammering [‘peening’] the can sides into a pebbled texture, as well as creating holes and upcycled S-hooks for hanging. These techniques together create beautiful and versatile elements that can be added to jewelry, mobiles, and more!
The instructor will provide all basic needs for the class, but if you have any of the following you can bring along, please do!
-aluminum cans, uncrushed and well-rinsed
-old-style metal scissors [The instructor states that these do not have to be very sharp, and cutting cans will not damage their edge.]
Class Fee $20
