Author Sharon Hatfield will talk about her new book, Enchanted Ground: The Spirit Room of Jonathan Koons, a fascinating story about a 19th century Athens County man who believed he could communicate with the dead. Hatfield’s book documents the larger story of Spiritualism that swept the country at that time, showing how rural mediums like Jonathan Koons actively participated in Spiritualist seances that drew crowds night after night. A book signing will follow the talk.
