The Greater Huntington Symphonic Band and Jazz Band will perform their annual free spring concert this Thursday, April 23 at 6:30 pm in the Ironton High School auditorium. The jazz band will begin the program followed by the symphonic band. A freewill offering will be taken to cover expenses.

The symphonic band, directed by Matt Chaffins, consists of approximately 50 members performing on various wind, brass, and percussion instruments. They perform standard concert band arrangements representing multiple styles and genres. The jazz band, directed by Tom Chaffin, has approximately 25 members, all of whom are members of the symphonic band, and performs standard jazz, big band, and jazz rock arrangements. Both groups typically perform several joint concerts per year throughout the tri-state including the annual early summer Patriotic concert in Ironton, a fall pops concert, a Christmas concert, a spring concert, and the annual WV Community Band Festival held this year in Buckhannon. The symphonic band will also perform for WV Symphony Sunday in June.
