The History Department will host its annual Lazaroff Memorial Lecture in Jewish history. The 2026 speaker is Dr. Joanna Sliwa, whose lecture is titled “Widening the Lens: The Holocaust from the Perspective of Jewish Children and Older Adults.” The lecture is on Tuesday, March 24 at 7 p.m. in Baker Center 240/242 (Multipurpose Room), preceded by a reception at 6 p.m. at the same location. This event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Joanna Sliwa is a historian of the Holocaust and modern Polish Jewish history. She works at the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (Claims Conference). She is the author of the award-winning book Jewish Childhood in Kraków: A Microhistory of the Holocaust (Rutgers University Press, 2021).
