This year, we’re teaming up with Raccoon Creek Outfitters and adding a new twist to Paddle for Polio Plus. We’ll meet at Raccoon Creek Outfitters headquarters and basecamp on U.S. Route 50 and enjoy a leisurely float and paddle down the infamous Raccoon Creek. We’ll celebrate with food, entertainment, and prizes back at basecamp.

Paddle for Polio Plus is a unique fundraiser aimed to raise awareness and support for Rotary’s quest to completely eradicate polio from the world. The initiative is over 3 decades strong and Rotary’s goal is complete eradication. Only a few countries continue to report new polio cases. We’re almost there, but the final push is more critical than ever. It is estimated that is will take about $1 Billion to finish the job.

Athens Sunrise Rotary aims to raise $2000 at this event, which will eventually vaccinate 3600 children thanks to a triple match by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The event is family-friendly and will feature music, free food and tons of games and activities for the entire family! Children 12 and under are free with a ticketed adult.
