Paper Circle Origami Exhibit Now Online
April 12 - May 31Free
NELSONVILLE, OHIO: Paper Circle studio is pleased to announce an origami exhibit now featured on their website, www.papercircle.org. The online show, which will be on view through May 31, are the selections chosen through a juried process this past winter. It is the first origami art show that Paper Circle has sponsored. Artists were invited to submit origami artwork created during 2021-22. A minimum of one fold was required per submitted piece.
Origami is the art of paper folding. In Japanese, the combination of oru (to fold) and kami (paper) makes this art form, which combines math, geometry, and the visual arts. The Paper Circle origami show was open to all methods, from the traditional form of folding just a single piece of paper to more contemporary approaches that use multiple sheets of paper. Some pieces, in addition to being folded, are painted or drawn on.
The origami exhibit includes 16 selected pieces, all of which are shown on www.papercircle.org, along with descriptions, dimensions, material, and price. The exhibit also includes a $300 Sara Gilfert Award, named in honor of the studio’s founder. Clicking on the pictures on the front-page carousel shows the actual folded piece; clicking on the link to the exhibition takes the viewer to a description of the piece and information about the artist.
Paper Circle is a non-profit studio and gallery located at 35 W. Columbus Street in Nelsonville, OH.
