Southeast Ohio History Center Lyceum Luncheon Speaker Series: Chief Tarhe and the War with Tecumseh by Michael Johnson

The Lyceum Luncheon Brown Bag Speaker Series presents a program on Chief Tarhe and the War with Tecumseh by Michael Johnson on Thursday, December 11th at noon at the Southeast Ohio History Center.
Johnson, Marketing Director for the Fairfield County Heritage Association, Director of the Sherman House Museum, and associated with The Georgian Museum in Lancaster, Ohio will introduce his audience to the leader of the Wyandot people who occupied parts of Southeast Ohio and the Hockhocking Valley at the time of European settlement.
Chief Tarhe, known to some European settlers and military persons as The Crane supported the Treaty of Greenville after the Battle of Fallen Timbers in northwest Ohio in 1794. Tecumseh and his brother The Prophet did not. Come and hear Michael Johnson discuss some of the issues associated with the struggles and the treaties and their impact on Native Americans in the early years following Ohio’s settlement.
The History Center’s Lyceum Speaker Series is a brown bag luncheon scheduled for the third Thursdays of the month at 24 West State Street in Athens.
