SUMMARY:16th Annual Groundhog Hike
DESCRIPTION:Another way to enjoy the wintry weather is to come to our 16th annual Groundhog Hike at Strouds Run State Park. Mark your calendars for Sunday\, 03 February\, 2019. The hike will start from the Bobcat Shelter (Shelterhouse 2) by the boat ramp at Dow Lake. The starting window is noon to 1 pm. This is a self-guided hike but some guided options will be available. It is sponsored jointly by the Athens Conservancy and the Friends of Strouds Run State Park. Free refreshments will be provided\, as will free trail maps. Options for length of hike are 3.2\, 4.8\, and 6.25 miles. There will be shorter\, kid-friendly hikes at 12:15 and 12:45 pm.\n\nHikers will be off the trail in plenty of time to prepare for the Superbowl! And you can work off those extra calories before noshing out in front of the tube!\n\nGPS coordinates for the shelterhouse are 39.351247\, -82.037426

DESCRIPTION:Come mingle around the fire and hike with us at the 15th Annual Groundhog Hike on Sunday February 4\, 2018\, sponsored by the Athens Conservancy and the Friends of Strouds Run!  Gather at 12 noon at Shelterhouse #2 (Bobcat Shelter near the boat ramp) in Strouds Run State Park. Those who wish to hike at their own pace are welcome to depart at any time (maps will be available).  Or join us on guided hikes: Longer hikes (4 miles) depart at 12:30 and 12:45. Shorter hikes (2 miles) depart at 1:15 and 1:30. We will return to the shelterhouse afterward for hot food and drinks! Bring the kids — everyone is welcome! Feel free to bring a snack to share.
