She took up the cornet for the school band because that was what was available to rent\, and with that instrument\, she was in the senior band in third grade. With a few lessons on guitar under her belt\, she provided music for her Catholic congregation that had no organ. And she pushed past her shyness to finally begin the singing career she always dreamed of by accompanying her son’s college band. She now performs regularly locally and further afield\, heading jazz groups\, singing and playing trumpet\, and playing guitar in solo appearances.
