This year’s general election will allow voters to decide if select stores throughout Ohio will be able to sell alcohol on Sundays.

Stores like Walmart, Kroger and some Mini Marts in various counties are requesting a Sunday sales special permit that must be approved by the precinct where the vendor is located.

This is not the first time some of these stores have been on the ballot for Sunday sales. Walmart and Kroger were on ballots last year requesting the permit, but in counties like Fairfield and Belmont the permits were voted down.

Many voters turn down sales on Sunday for religious reasons. Ohio used to have a Blue Law that banned alcohol sales on Sunday due to religious reasons.
