A Beaver man has been sentenced to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to June burglaries in the Londonderry area.

David. A. Stevens, 25, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary, both second-degree felonies. He was given an eight-year sentence for both counts, but will serve them concurrently, according to a news release from Vinton County Prosecutor Trecia Kimes-Brown.

Stevens had been charged with burglary and breaking and entering for incidents reported in June on Sowers Road, Pretty Run and Beechgrove Road, The Courier previously reported. His arrest came alongside several others in a Vinton County Sheriff's Office investigation into a string of area thefts of guns, bows, jewelry and furniture.

Two co-defendants await trial on similar charges stemming from that investigation.

Kimes-Brown said in the release that she was proud of the sentencing, "(given) the number of burglaries that have occurred in the county over the past months."
