A West Virginia-based beef jerky manufacturer is recalling about 109 pounds of its product after the federal inspectors found it was not safe to eat.

Fairmont-based Lone Star Western Beef Inc. issued the recall on all 1-, 3- and 16-ounce packages of "Lone Star Western Beef Inc. Original Beef Jerky" produced on Aug. 12.

The Charleston Gazette reports that inspectors discovered the products were not processed at a safe temperature.

According to a news release, the products were shipped to a distributor in north-central West Virginia and sold to retail stores.

Stores in Fairmont, Morgantown, Rivesville, Weston and Jane Lew, as well as other places, may have received the bad jerky.

Each bag of jerky has the establishment number 19563 printed inside the USDA mark of inspection.
