Belmont and Noble Counties Receive Water and Sewer Funds

Belmont County and the Village of Caldwell will receive a share of $2 million in grants to improve wastewater and sewer infrastructure. 

 
The grants are from the Ohio Department of Development as part of the federally-funded Water and Sanitary Sewer Program.
 
Christine Schmenk, director of the Ohio Department of Development, says "water and sewer systems are the foundation of a community's economic potential."
 
Belmont County will receive $600,000 for sewer installation. The funds will also go toward helping 38 low- to moderate- income households connect to the sewer system. The project is estimated to cost more than $3.5 million and will benefit 213 households.
 
The Village of Caldwell will receive $461,000 for waterline replacement which is projected to cost is more than $900,000 and benefit 1,340 households.
