WSAZ in Charleston/Huntington is reporting that the Gallia County Local Schools teacher who was charged with cultivation of and trafficking in marijuana has been placed on paid administrative leave by the district.

Kari Labello, 40, of Gallia County was arrested Sunday in Athens along with 46-year-old Curtis W. Hinds, when police discovered 13 pounds of marijuana in a garage.

From the WSAZ report, Superintendent Wendy Halley said "Confidentiality requirements prevent me from commenting upon or discussing any allegations of employee misconduct. In the event disciplinary action is taken against an employee by the Board, further information will be disclosed. However, I can say that anytime the district is confronted with allegations relating to the safety and welfare of students, the allegations are taken seriously, thoroughly investigated and measures are taken to ensure that students are safe."
