Oregon Man Arrested After Allegedly Assaulting Athens Co. Deputy
< < Back toAn Oregon man faces charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after he allegedly assaulted an Athens County Sheriff's deputy.
Sheriff Pat Kelly says deputies responded to call on Torch Road in Coolville at 5:30 this morning.
There they found Henry Chaney, 40, asleep in the bed of a pickup truck.
Kelly says when the officers attempted to wake Chaney, he began attacking one of them, injuring the deputy's hand.
Kelly says the deputies tried to tase Chaney, but he ripped the prongs out and continued attacking them.
Chaney was taken to O'Bleness Memorial Hospital for observation.
He told the officers he is an Iraq war veteran and he suffers from post traumatic stress syndrome.
