State officials say all but five West Virginia counties saw unemployment rates decline from September to October.

Figures released by WorkForce West Virginia show that of the state's 55 counties, Webster County reported the highest jobless rate with 11.8 percent. Monongalia County's 5 percent unemployment rate was the lowest.

The unemployment rate rose in Webster, Brooke and Doddridge counties and remained steady in Pocahontas and Wayne counties.

The state unemployment rate in October was 7.4 percent, down from 7.8 percent in September, and down from 8.5 percent in October 2010.
