Redesigned Ohio license plates and driver's licenses will be made available in the next two years.

Gov. John Kasich unveiled the new designs at the Columbus College of Art and Design, where the new plate and license were created.

Both feature a simpler design with a small red triangle at the top. The plate has a plain white background, while the license opts for a light blue. Ohioans can go online over the coming months to choose state slogans to adorn the background.

Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles Registrar Mike Rankin says the new licenses comply with federal laws passed after 9/11 designed to make them harder to counterfeit.

The driver's licenses will be available in January 2013, while the new plates will go public December 2012.
