Police Investigate Counterfeit Bill Cases

Athens police are investigating a possible case of fraud after employees recognized counterfeit bills at Richland Ave. businesses recently.
According to a news release, the descriptions of the two people and the counterfeit $50 involved in the separate incidents were similar.
Employees caught the fraudulent bills before there was any loss of property or services.
Police are recommending businesses carefully inspect large bills and contact the department immediately if they think they've been passed a counterfeit bill.
