Early Christmas Present For Area Teachers
< < Back toTeachers in Southeast Ohio are being offered a professional Christmas present from one of their own.
The Ohio University Council of Teachers in Mathematics will be giving away about $8,000 of teaching materials to any interested teacher.
The booty is part of a collection of materials amassed during the career of an anonymous teacher who, for health reasons, has left the classroom.
Timothy McKeny of the Ohio University Department of education said the collection covers all content areas and focuses on early and middle child education.
The items range from overhead projectors to storage units. He said a 17-foot truck was required to haul the material.
McKeny said the donor was insistent on giving the items away at no charge because she understands the financial constraints faced by teachers wanting to provide the best learning environment.
The event, called the "Winter Holiday Education Supply Giveaway" will be held Saturday from 10 to 2 in room 234 of McCracken Hall.
