The West Virginia University at Parkersburg Foundation has named a new executive director.

Officials said Wednesday that Geni Astorg will begin her duties on Dec. 19.

In addition to her role with the foundation, she also will serve as the college's director of development.

School officials say they are confident Astorg will help the school leverage money so that it can do more for students, faculty and staff.

The Parkersburg-native has more than 25 years of sales and marketing experience.

She holds a bachelor of science in organizational management from Ohio Valley University and a master's degree in strategic leadership from Mountain State University.

Since 2005, Astorg has worked as a licensed real estate agent and also owned and operated a consulting firm.
