Kent Smith Named President Of Langston University

Ohio University's Vice President of Student Affairs has been named the next president of Langston University.

O.U. President Roderick McDavis sent an e-mail to the campus community making the announcement.

"I extend heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Kent Smith on being named the next president of Langston University," says McDavis.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Smith was one of four finalists for the position at the historically black university located in Oklahoma.

"The powerful legacy he leaves at Ohio extends to our students, faculty, staff and the greater Athens community," says McDavis. "We are very proud that Langston University has recognized his talents and chosen him to lead their institution."

Smith's presidency at Langston starts July 1.
