An Ohio University apartment complex will serve a useful purpose one more time before being razed to make room for new construction.

OU police, Athens City police and fire departments will conduct first responder training at the Wolfe Street complex June 28-29.

The vacant buildings are scheduled to be torn down later this summer.

During the exercises, the complex will be restricted and only first responders will be allowed in the area.

The university's manager of emergency programs, Jill Harris, says passersby should not be alarmed when they see emergency vehicles and equipment on site.

"This is a great opportunity for our first responding partners to utilize space on campus for training," said Harris.
