On this edition of Conversations from Studio B, Maureen Wagner talks with Ohio University College of Fine Arts Interim Dean Madeleine Scott.

Scott has served as the director of the School of Dance for 15 years. Since 2010, she has also been the interim director of the School of Theater.

Scott joined Ohio University in 1980. She received a B.A. in Theater Arts from Loyola Marymount University and a M.A. in dance performance from the University of California-Los Angeles, and is the recipient of the University Professor Award and the Ohio Dance Outstanding Teacher Award.

During her time at OU, Scott helped to found the Chairs and Directors Council and has served on Faculty Senate, the Budget Planning Council, and an extensive number of university-wide task forces and planning committees.

She has been equally active within the college with her most recent work focused on the Future of the College Committee, which produced a plan for restructuring the college.

The plan, which Scott will help implement as interim dean, creates an organizational model that will allow new opportunities for growth and collaboration for students, faculty and staff across disciplines.

She will replace the current dean, Charles McWeeny, on July 1. A national search for a permanent dean will begin in the fall.
